Since receiving a Master’s degree from Ohio University, I have overseen the implementation of IT Infrastructure and Information Security solutions for organizations ranging from small credit unions to Fortune 500 companies. I currently serve as an IT Director for IGS where I lead a department of 22 individuals with responsibilities including Information Security, DevOps, Network Engineering, Systems Administration, Database Administration, Telecommunications and Technology Support.
I’m very passionate about improving technology education. I have channeled this passion by serving as an Adjunct Professor in the Computer Science department at Franklin University since 2016. At Franklin University, I teach courses that cover Network Engineering, Systems Administration & Information Security. I also volunteer as an Advisory Board Member for Cyber Security Programs at Hocking College and Tiffin University. In my role as Advisory Board Member, I work closely with University administration and faculty to help align the school’s curriculum with the needs of prospective employers
I also devote time attempting to remove barriers that prevent talented individuals from joining the technology workforce by volunteering with i.c.stars. i.c.stars is a technology boot camp that identifies, trains and jump-starts technology careers for low-income young adults who, although lacking access to education and employment, demonstrate an extraordinary potential for success in the business world and for impact in their communities. I have mentored students from i.c.stars since the program first launched in Columbus, Ohio. Since the opening of the i.c.stars Columbus office, over one dozen students with disadvantaged backgrounds have been hired into entry-level IT roles in organizations across Central Ohio.
I’m also committed to making the communities where I work and live a better place. In an effort to continue this commitment, I have accepted a role as a member of the Board of Trustees at Alvis, Inc. Alvis is a nonprofit human services agency with 50 years of experience providing highly effective treatment programs. Their lines of service include research-based, comprehensive reentry and family support programs; behavioral health and substance abuse treatment services; recovery housing for women and their children; and services to individuals with developmental disabilities who are trying to live more independently in the community. As a member of the Board of Trustees, I serve as an ambassador for the organization, help make governing decisions, and assist in securing the resources and financial support to advance the Alvis mission.
